Given a healthy narcissism, you are the best observer of your own body. Unless you are a model, movie star, or your financial security is dependent on your body, chances are that people are not going to be as obsessed, or at least attentive, to the changes of your body as you are. Drastic changes, makeovers, and transformations do get the attention of many of your acquaintances, but small changes—minor fluctuations in weight, a gray hair here and there—are not going to call consideration.

For good or ill, you are a better recorder of these small to major changes in your body than anyone else. Given the astrological perspective, changes in the body always have a correlation with the movement of the planets relative to your birth chart. This bears repeating; astrology supports the notion that planetary alignments are going to correlate with changes in the body—minor or major, real or imagined.

"The Body" as Defined by Astrology

Just as there are different systems that comprise the body as a whole in medicine—the endocrine system, the reproductive system, etc.—this astrological guide will also breakdown the body into different components and workings. However, unlike much of western medicine, the astrological definition of the body will include, yet go beyond, systems that go outside the mere physical aspect of the body. Thus, we can think of astrology as partitioning the body into physical components and non-physical components. These non-physical components may be likened (but not identical to) the 'charkras' of eastern disciplines or the 'humours' of Medieval medicine—non-physical, but very real, centers that comprise and effect the body.

Although the planetary archetypes are associated with dimensions that aren't necessarily connected with the body per se, for the purposes of this essay we can liken each planet as symbolizing a system of the body.
