Something

The years 1968-1969 arguably saw the greatest creative flowering and efflorescence in the history of popular music of the last one hundred years. The outpouring of innovative and seminal works from the great bands and solo artists of the rock era make the preceding statement one hard to refute. A triple conjunction between Uranus, Pluto, and Jupiter correlated with this time of high creative output and the planetary pile-up happened to land on Harrison's natal Neptune-Venus opposition. (see chart) Both Venus and Neptune have their artistic sides. Neptune is associated with artistic inspiration that is timeless, poetic, and eternal. A "Neptunian" artistic creation often transcends fads, popular culture, and trends to connote something beautiful, ideal, if not slightly divine. Venus's artistic face is associated with harmony, aesthetic appeal, and taste. For Harrison, these higher and lower octaves of artistic creation were dynamically stimulated in a once-in-a-lifetime burst of ingenious activity.

Taking out 1968-1969 from Harrison's life as songwriter leaves very little left in terms of memorable creative output. As the Beatles were falling apart, Harrison took up the torch as genius-in-residence as McCartney and Lennon feuded and were drawn further away from band cohesiveness. Not only did 1968 and 1969 witness Harrison's greatest songs with the Beatles-"Something," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," and "Here comes the Sun"-but the time period also provided the inspiration for the seminal tracks of his greatest solo effort, the multi-platinum "All things Must Pass." The creative explosion that is suggested by the transits of the outer planets relative to Harrison's birth chart had produced some of the great, enduring songs of 20th century popular music.
