All of us have this tension to some degree, however, when these two principles come together in the form of a planetary conjunction, this psychological hostility takes on a heightened degree of urgency and strain. Applying the antagonism of the Saturn-Uranus dilemma to Harrison's Pisces Sun, we see the urge for liberation and need to ground one's self into pragmatic reality takes on a particularly spiritual tone; the quest for a Pisces individual to find peace in material reality is amended by a greater stress and necessity. Moreover, not only does the Saturn-Uranus conjunction significantly exacerbate the Pisces's religious quest, but it tends to add an element of extremism to the predicament. Harrison noted this himself when he said, "I'm a Pisces. I am an extreme person. One half is always going down where the other half has just been. I was always extremely up or extremely down, extremely spiritual or extremely drugged. Now there is a bit of maturity. I have brought the two closer to the middle. I don't get too far up or too far down, and that feels good." (1)

Harrison remained devoutly spiritual while simultaneously being absorbed and engrossed with the material realm. Being anything but a renouncing ascetic, Harrison enjoyed the pleasures of this world and the fruits of his labor while simultaneously engaging in deep spiritual practice. This is not a hypocrisy; rather, this is a clear expression and manifestation of the necessary struggle with the dominant patterns of his own psychology.

Beyond merely accentuating the tension of the spiritual-material polarity in Harrison, the Saturn-Uranus complex is also known to correlate with the possibility of facing crises and accidents in a lifetime. With Harrison's Sun in a tense, dynamic square alignment to the crisis-like energy of the Saturn-Uranus complex, he had his fair share of near fatalities through car, motorcycle, and airplane miscues throughout his life. When looking at the energies involved with Saturn and Uranus, there couldn't be a more distinct pairing. Uranus is correlated with the Seventh Chakra, ideal forms, and light—its energy level is the highest vibration possible. Saturn, on the other hand, is more analogous to the spinal chord, concrete visible forms, lead, and concrete—its energy is low vibration. The consequence of combining these two differing energies is a little like placing a dynamo in a lead container, with the end result often climaxing in disaster, combustion, and calamity. As seen in the pages that follow, when Harrison's Saturn-Uranus complex was activated by transit*, often he would often endure stressful accidents.
