Judd Apatow (born December 6th, 1967)

The dynamic of Hollywood summer releases is characterized by a familiar theme: a number of blockbusters are released, replete with special effects and hackneyed plotlines, and yet one or two sleeper films push the creative boundaries
with original and fresh material. However, while these sleeper films are often released in the dog days of August, this year's surprise summer hit may have already been released with June's Knocked Up. A comedy that examines a pregnancy and ensuing relationship after a regrettable one night stand, Knocked Up is considered to be one of the sharpest and wittiest comedies in years. Although the "childbirth" genre is not known for memorable movies (one must recall Governor Schwarzenegger's lamentable Junior), writer Judd Apatow has injected Knocked Up with uproarious adult dialogue.

Although known to diehard comedy-goers with his comedies Freaks and Geeks and The 40 Year Old Virgin, Apatow isn't exactly a household name. However, the inevitable success of Knocked Up is likely to expand Apatow's influence tremendously. Currently, Apatow is experiencing a Jupiter conjunction by transit to his natal Sun. Moreover, Jupiter is currently retrograding back and forth over Aptow's Sun for an extended period of time. For nearly all of 2007, Jupiter will be traveling back and forth over Apatow's Sun position in mid-Sagitarrius. Typically, a Jupiter transit such as this lasts for approximately two months, however due to Jupiter's retrogradation, this particular transit is much longer than usual. Although a somewhat algebraic interpretation, one might suggest that an extended influence such as this correlates with a more potent influence.

A Jupiter conjunction transit to the Sun, a cycle that lasts approximately twelve years, often mirrors a process whereby one experiences a new level of influence, expansion, and growth. The transit has immediate effects but also more extended consequences after the immediate impact of the transit is over. During the direct phase of the transit, one may experience a heightened degree of increase and positivity. This may correlate with a simple internal sense of positive renewal and optimism, or it can coincide with external accolades, such as public recognition or noticeable achievements and success. Following the immediate phase of the transit, there is a consequent phase, which lasts for the entire length of the cycle; it is this phase of the transit that is arguably of greater significance. During this consequent phase, one widens one's sphere of influence; obstacles or limitations which once blocked one from experiencing personal success seem to lift and recede during these cycles. Like growth rings on a tree, Jupiter cycles represent wider and wider expanse and ease. For Apatow, one can confidently suggest that after the release of Knocked Up, the director and writer will experience greater opportunities to develop his talents.
