In a conjunction, the planetary energies synergize, that is, their energies co-effect each other. Saturn restricts the Jupiterian expansion as Jupiter expands the Saturnian restriction. One might believe these energies cancel each other out, but, the opposite occurs: the energies fuse, metaphorically speaking, into one big hypercycle.

A cultural manifestation of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction is the foundation of long-range planning, far-sighted objectives in politics and the economy. Witness JFK’s New Frontier and the ideal of an American Camelot realized and “Reaganomics” of the last two Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions.

In looking at the upcoming Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of May 2000, it is highly important to embed this conjunction in its proper context. This Jupiter-Saturn conjunction is the last in a nearly 200 year line of Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions occurring in Earth Signs. After the impending conjunction in the Earth Sign of Taurus, there will follow a long succession of Air Sign conjunctions--Air being the element of our impending Age of Aquarius.

Astrologers are quick to note that there was a 200 year succession of Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions in Water Signs beginning with Christ’s birth—Water being the element of Pisces and the age which began at the time of Christ. So, in our current context, we might say that this upcoming Saturn-Jupiter conjunction will be the last before the Aquarian Age begins in earnest. We may also look at the long succession of Saturn-Jupiter Earth sign conjunctions as a time in which the material economic infrastructure of the Aquarian Age is built.
