The effects of Jupiter-Uranus
combinations can be observed in essentially eight patterns. Some oppositions
and conjunctions carry only a few of the following patterns, others all
eight:
1. genres of music are either created or emerge from the cultural
underground into popular consciousness during these periods. Since Jupiter
is associated with what is popular at any given time and popular consciousness
in general, when Uranus forms a significant aspect to Jupiter, something
new is ushered into public awareness.
2. Significant
inventions in music creation, recording, reproduction, or dissemination
are invented or released into the economy at this time. Uranus is not in
itself the archetype of technology, however, it is associated with technology
for the liberatory effects that technology can bring and for technology's
ability to reveal more of the universe's potentials.
3. Classic recordings, songs, and compositions are written and/or released
during these years, exemplifying their determined genre. In the birthchart,
Uranus not only indicates a point of detachment, rebellion, and freedom, but
it also can symbolize a point of striving for perfection–it can strongly tug
at us to make more out of what we were originally given in life. Thus, in
music, Uranus can represent the will and drive towards the perfectly crafted
song, composition, recording, or album. Jupiter's fortuitous presence often
allows this lofty ambition success. Without Jupiter, the striving for the
‘classic' can merely result in experimentation, novelty, and deviation for
it's own sake.
4. Jupiter-Uranus years are often the year in which people who radically
revolutionize, initiate, or epitomize their genre are born or emerge on the
musical scene. The Jupiter-Uranus aesthete is often the enfant terrible,
trailblazing a progressive path of controversy in his or her wake. Thus, Jupiter
is expanding and elevating the need for independence in artistic creation
for which the Uranus archetype is known.
