| Conclusion:
Besides giving an important phenomenological experience, or "feel," of the Pluto archetype, the above films show a number of different ways to manage and handle Pluto. Scorsese's Christ, El Topo, and to a lesser degree Last Tango's Brando are transformed and redeemed with the struggle with the archetype. Dead Man and Apocalypse Now depict courageous individuals that submit to the energy and enter into profound death-rebirth phases of their existence. Belly of an Architect explores a man unwilling to let go of control and power and is painfully broken down by a force greater than himself. Blue Velvet investigates a fragmented town that, in its inability to acknowledge its dark side, tosses Pluto pathologies mercilessly between one another. Finally, American Pop illumines the larger death and rebirth cycles interwoven within the evolution of human creativity.
The conclusion one can draw from these films is that although Pluto arises in some form in all of these films, there is a large freedom of choice with how to deal with the energy. Equally important, the degrees of freedom seems to be intertwined with the level of consciousness at which the protagonists, antagonists, and communities are operating. The greater awareness that one has to acknowledge that the pain and crisis that arise from Pluto are somehow part of one's self, the greater the ability to let go to the process and be transformed.
