There is an inevitability of an archetype or archetypal combination manifesting in some form, but the "how" or "what" of the expression is decided by the free will and conscious volition of individuals and the collective.
It may be said that the phenomenological experience of the Saturn-Pluto configuration-the raw and foundational subjective knowing and understanding of the archetypal pattern-may have a core constituency that arises in each and everyone of us during a two plus year alignment that is unalterable: a heavy, coagulated darkness; the utter absence of levity, inner light, spontaneous expressions and joy; fantasies of sadism, destruction, obliteration and annihilation; a sense of the sinister; an imminent ominous foreboding; intense criticism felt towards one's self or others; paranoia, suspicion, mistrust; lust for complete power and control over others; images of an immensely attractive and seductive sexual force; the experience of colors of concentrated intensity: deep, dark, or blood red; thick greys; polished silver; navy blue; the biologically grotesque; monsters, demons, devils; archaic and primal images of 'evil' from the assemblage of the world's religions and mythological traditions; images of the Judeo-Christian concept of Hell or Purgatory; the compulsion or obsession to go deeply unconscious and to forego rationality for the sake of feeling the primal intensity of the procreative and dynamic forces of cosmic creation; conversely, the impulse to place strong repressive barricades between one's conscious sense of self and the biological forces of nature alive in the body.
Given the inevitability of the arising of the above phenomena during Saturn-Pluto alignments, the crucial factors in determining the collective manifestation of the archetypal pattern is the type and quality of cultural outlets and the explicit or tacit value judgements from cultural authorities placed upon the experiential quality of this integral part of being human.
