Judging from the degree and severity of psychological projection that occurs during Saturn-Pluto alignments, it appears that some elements of the archetypal configuration are not well-integrated by groups, nations, and faiths. A speculative but cogent argument is that Judeo-Christian-Islamic religions-transcendent, "sky" religions- judged a good majority of the phenomena that correlates with the Saturn-Pluto configuration, namely the more primal, biological, purgative, and regenerative functions of nature and the human body, as "evil" and these religions dissociated and dichotomised (via latent and explicit value judgements) away from human experience these acceptable and normal ideas, images, functions and behaviors. Thus, this splitting away-this great divide- from what is simply a part of the human experience leads to an inevitable double bind which has had dire consequences. When a religion or other value system deems something that is intrinsic and unavoidable in its arising as abnormal, bad, and inhuman, than really the only outlet for healthy expression in such a system is to place the feelings, images, urges, desires-which do arise naturally-onto another group, to project the arisings onto "other."

When greater consciousness and ownership arises concerning the inevitability and naturalness of a much greater range of human experience, and, pertinent to this essay, manifestations of Saturn-Pluto alignments, than much greater degrees of human freedom can be obtained, and one is no longer an unconscious pawn privy to the archetypal tectonics of Spirit. We cannot divorce ourselves from these archetypal forces, but we can live in conscious harmony with their machinations. In terms of the Saturn-Pluto archetypal manifestation, if all groups and nations identify, own, and create safe and healthy outlets for all aspects of the arising of this configuration-from the sense of moral responsibility, strength, and determination to the urge to destroy, to identify with the deeply biological, and yearnings to feel a deep-seated source of power-than I believe that much of the problematic expression which has globally caused so much diaster and pain can be assuaged.

* Since Pluto's orbital speed around the Sun is erratic and varies significantly, the seven to eight year cycle can vary somewhat.
