Ken Wilber: transpersonal theorist
|
|
 |
Transpersonal
theorist and philosopher Ken Wilber has become the one of the leading authorities of spirituality
in the West. Embraced by millions of cultural creatives, Wilber has definite
opinions on what constitutes healthy transegoic spiritual practices and
what are regressive, if not harmful, spiritual disciplines.

At this point in time,
Wilber is "agnostic" (his words) about astrology. Wilber is uncharacteristically
cautious about taking a position on current trends in astrological debates,
but the pages of his published journal, "One Taste," indicate that he is a
curious bystander.
Although Wilber's
chart (solar only) reveals little as to why he is currently sitting on the astrological
fence, it speaks volumes about the timing of his publications and interests
as a thinker.
The most prominent feature
of Wilber's birthchart is the triple conjunction of Sun, Mercury, and Mars
in the air sign of Aquarius, with Mercury at the midpoint of Sun and Mars.
Here we have the foundations of one whose identity is very much involved with
thought, with one who sees himself primarily as a thinker. The inflection
of Aquarius makes the triple conjunction that much more cerebral. Hence, we
have in Wilber's chart a prominent intellectual triple conjunction placed
in a sign involved with conceptual and abstract thought.
Further exploring the
chart, we will notice that the Sun, Mercury, Mars triple conjunction "trines"
the planet Neptune (also in an air sign, Libra). In Wilber's case, Neptune,
the planet of spirituality, the collective unconscious, visionary capability, and compassion
is constructively aspected to the aforementioned triple conjunction of Mercury,
Sun, and Mars.
